Listening sessions with Bishop McKnight

Bishop W. Shawn McKnight will host a series of listening sessions and shared prayer opportunities regarding the abuse crisis in the Church.

He hopes to gather information, insight and prayers as he prepares to take part in the U.S. Catholic bishops’ fall assembly in Baltimore.

These listening sessions will also be a time to express sorrow and request forgiveness.

Columbia — Monday, Nov. 5 at 6 p.m., Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 903 Bernadette Dr.

Hannibal — Sunday, Oct. 28 at 4 p.m., Holy Family Church, 1111 Broadway

Jefferson City — Sunday, Nov. 4 at 4 p.m., Cathedral of St. Joseph, 2215 W. Main St.

Kirksville — Monday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m., Mary Immaculate Church, 716 E. Washington St.

Rolla — Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 6:30 p.m., St. Patrick Church, 17 St. Patricks Lane.

Session for young adults

Bishop McKnight will also gather for an afternoon of prayer and conversation with young adults from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Alphonse J. Schwartze Memorial Catholic Center, 2207 W. Main St. in Jefferson City.

This session is open to all Catholic young adults, ages 18 to 35, in the diocese.

It will include an opening prayer and comments by Bishop McKnight, followed by conversation, questions and answers, and concluding with prayer and Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament.
